3D For 2D Classroom Concept

This is a personal portfolio piece that I made to show an educational game company what I could do in their preferred "3D for 2D" art style. Basically, I modeled up the room desks, and counters in Modo. I then imported them into 3DS Max, added some additional props from TurboSquid, and rendered out a series of lighting and other color passes using Vray. This allowed me to carefully balance the color and intensity of the lights against each other.

Finally, I painted in the details. Starting with the outside environment and the various uncolored props. I then added various stock-art posters to the walls, warped/liquified them into place, and painted in shadows and highlights so that they matched the environent.
